Skill.io glossary

Plain definitions of the terms Skill.io uses: stake, duel, contract, settled, void, provably fair, house edge, rakeback, XP and the ledger.

The words Skill.io uses most, each defined in a sentence or two. Every definition comes from the FAQ and the guides, so the longer answers are one click away.

What is a stake?

The money you put on a match, contract or bet. It is reserved from your available balance and held while the match is open or in play. It is not spent, and if nobody accepts or you cancel, the hold is released.

What is a duel?

A match against another player in FC, NBA 2K, UFC or F1, played on your own console or PC. The winner takes the pot, which is both stakes together.

What does a contract mean on Skill.io?

A task you complete on one of Skill.io's own game servers for a fixed payout, such as staying alive for an hour in DayZ. You stake on yourself, do it, and Skill.io's agents check the server log.

What does backing or fading mean?

When someone accepts a contract, other players can bet on how it goes. Back it if you think they will complete it, fade it if you think they will not.

What does settled mean?

A match or bet is settled once its result is final. The moment it settles, the winnings are in your balance and there is nothing to request. That is separate from withdrawing the money.

What does void mean?

A void bet is cancelled and the stake is returned. For example, a bet on a whole-number total that lands exactly on the line is void. In a parlay only the void leg is cancelled and the parlay stands on its other legs.

What is a parlay?

A ticket of 2 to 10 picks from different games, where every pick has to win and the prices multiply.

What is provably fair?

It means you can check a result yourself instead of taking our word for it. Coin Flip shows the hash of its server seed before you pick a side and reveals the seed after the flip, and Stack crash points come from a published SHA-256 hash chain.

What is the house edge?

The part of what is staked that Skill.io keeps over time. In Stack, perfect play returns 98% of what you stake, so the other 2% is the house edge. Coin Flip against Skill.io pays 1.90x your stake on a fair 50/50 coin, a 5% house edge.

What is rakeback?

When you bet against Skill.io, part of the house edge comes back to you. The higher your level, the bigger your share.

What is XP?

Experience points that decide your level. Every $100 you stake earns 1 XP once the bet settles, on sports, contracts and games the house takes a cut of. Bets that are voided and refunded do not count.

What is the ledger?

Every deposit, stake, win and withdrawal is an entry in one ledger, kept in US dollars. You can see all of it on your wallet page.
